Today we lost a great in the world of Comedy. Bea Arthur, one broad who knew how to entertain.

Some highlighs from her career are:

  • 1964 – Won the Tony for portraying Vera Charles to Angela Landsbury’s Auntie Mame
  • 1972 – Stared as Maude Findlay in the series Maude, which one of the most controversial episode was when Maude got an abortion.
  • 1977 – Won Emmy for Best Performance in a Comedy series, and also won several Golden Globes
  • 1978 – Stared in the Star Wars Christmas special, with a dance with Gredo
  • 1985 – Stared in Golden Girls, which will prob be one of her most remembered roles and Dorothy Zbornak, along with Estelle Getty, Rue McClanahan, and Betty White.
  • 2002 – Bea Arthur on Broadway: Just Between Friends, a collection of stories and songs (with musician Billy Goldenberg) based on her life and career. The show was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event
